Regina Roosth As Your City Hostess, I personally welcome newcomers to Tyler and East Texas. Mary Howes, the original City Hostess, began welcoming newcomers to Tyler in 1969. Today, I continue the tradition by introducing newcomers to local businesses (we trade with every business, doctor, handyman in my welcome packet or have approved them for referral). Therefore, the customer-business connection is a positive one. I provide “newcomers” (anyone new to the area up to two years) with a complimentary Tyler, Texas Welcome Packet full of great resources! My goals are to make newcomers feel welcome while helping them become familiar with their new community; and help newcomers before they move by providing necessary “Useful links” to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Newcomers Club of Tyler
Welcome to Tyler and East Texas!

Since founder Frances Martin held the first meeting in her home in 1950, the Newcomers Club of Tyler has played an integral part in making new residents feel at home.

The Newcomers Club offers women a social network through a variety of special interests group activities, regular luncheons and programs.

Tyler Newcomers meet on the second Friday of each month at the First Christian Church Family Life Center (4202 S. Broadway). A social morning of various games begins at 9:00, with lunch at 11:45 followed by a program and raffle on alternating months.

Reservations are required and may be made through the Reservations Chair, Barbara Holmes, at 903-561-7833 or Susie Brown Membership Chairman, at 903-939-3201.
