As Your City Hostess, I personally welcome newcomers to Tyler and East Texas. Mary Howes, the original City Hostess, began welcoming newcomers to Tyler in 1969. Today, I continue the tradition by introducing newcomers to local businesses (we trade with every business, doctor, handyman in my welcome packet or have approved them for referral). Therefore, the customer-business connection is a positive one. I provide “newcomers” (anyone new to the area up to two years) with a complimentary Tyler, Texas Welcome Packet full of great resources! My goals are to make newcomers feel welcome while helping them become familiar with their new community; and help newcomers before they move by providing necessary “Useful links” to make the transition as smooth as possible.
In October 2008, we launched my newly designed and branded website. Featuring new interactive resources, as well as providing opportunities for other towns or cities to start up this unique business.
